Gentlemen,
Hastings House,
Norfolk Street,
Strand. W.C.
23rd April 1913.
E/201/26.
With reference to your letter of the 18th
instant and our conversation with you of yesterday,
we understand that you require, before placing an order
with us for the erection of Wireless Stations at Penang,
Singapore, Hong Kong, and Barbados, a financial guarantee that you shall not incur any loss due to the possibility of our Wireless Apparatus infringing that
of any other Company.
We should first like to point out that it is naturally somewhat difficult for us fully to appreciate
this as we have absolute confidence that our system not only differs in details of construction, but also radically in principle from every other Wireless System, with perhaps, the exception of the Telefunken System, whose Patent we have already defeated both in England
and in Germany.
At the same time, we should like to do all we can to satisfy you with regard to the sureties which you require and in place of Bonds, which you suggest in your letter of the 15th instant, we make the follow- ing suggestion which we think is simpler while giving
you equal security.
